MacOS DevelopmentJangaFX was founded in 2016 by Nick Seavert. Originally a real-time VFX artist in games, Nick was upset that there weren’t any tools made specifically for creating VFX assets in games. He wanted to make tools that didn’t suck and were actually fun to use. Stable, crash free, fun to use, and real-time was the dream. Rather than accepting outside investment to fund the company, which would put shareholders first and customers last, Nick bootstrapped JangaFX through maxing out credit cards, software sales, and a full-time job as a VFX Artist in the game industry. Morten Vassvik, our technical co-founder, joined the team in late 2017 and became the primary driving force behind the development on EmberGen.
Our first tool, a real-time vector field generator called VectorayGen (VRG), was released in May 2017 and was positively received by the real-time VFX community. It’s what got our foot in the door at a few large game studios and was the stepping stone for our next product, EmberGen. VRG was discontinued in November 2023 due to limited future potential, though we plan to add vector field export support to IlluGen soon. Our flagship product, EmberGen, was released on November 6th, 2019 and became the worlds first real-time volumetric fluid simulation tool built for production work. EmberGen has since been adopted by most AAA game studios and is the key tool that has funded the majority of our growth. Throughout the years as our revenue increases, we have continued to invest in our team and have grown to a team size of 25. In an effort to expand our innovative contributions to the industry, we have since released 3 additional tools which are now part of the Elemental Suite: LiquiGen, IlluGen, and GeoGen. LiquiGen is a real-time liquid simulator, IlluGen is a asset generator for real-time VFX and tech art, and GeoGen is a fresh take on real-time terrain and planet generation.
So what’s next? Our aim is to continue creating incredible tools for real-time VFX artists, tech artists, and environment artists in games and film. The Elemental Suite’s offerings will continue to grow and we hope that you’ll choose the Elemental Suite as your platform to Master the Elements.
We're here to provide you with blazing fast tools centered around elemental mastery. When you give us money for our tools, it is our responsibility to provide you with the best possible tooling, updates, and customer support.
