VectorayGen 1.03.6 Released! - Floating Licenses

Greetings!

After many requests from studios, we have added support for floating licenses for studios. See the studio tab for pricing info.

What is a floating license and how does it work?

Floating licenses allow installation of the software on as many workstations as needed. Licenses are managed via a Floating License server which needs to run 24/7 to allow licenses to be "checked out" by a user. When a user wants to use the software, it checks to see if a "lease" is available, if it is the user will be able to use the software. If a lease is not available, that user will have to wait until someone else finishes using the software.

The most common case is when you need a "pool" of licenses to be used across many computers. For example: a large studio that has hundreds of computers but only want 5 instances of VectorayGen app to run at any one time. In this case, this studio would purchase 5 floating licenses.

Where can I find information on the floating license server?

We use WyDay's TurboFloat Server for floating licenses. Please see this link for more information regarding installation & specs: https://wyday.com/limelm/help/turbofloat-server

The licensing SERVER may be installed on Windows, Linux and MacOS server machines.

VectorayGen itself does not run on Linux or MacOS, don't be confused by this.

That's all for now, let us know if you have any questions!
